Note sulla sicurezza
Domande per gli studenti
- What happens on putting the match into the beaker?
- What happens after pouring the gas from one test tube to another?
- What happens on testing with lime water?
Cosa aspettarsi

The splint is extinguished because carbon dioxide cannot sustain combustion.

The splint in the second test tube is extinguished whereas in the first tube it continues to burn.

This means that carbon dioxide is denser than air and can be poured from one container to another like a liquid.

A white precipitate of calcium carbonate forms in the test tube confirming that the gas is carbon dioxide.

Smaltimento
Dispose of the liquids into the acids and bases waste container.
